Is a new video posted to Youtube on April 16, 2015 irrefutable proof of Bigfoot? According to Thomas Marcum, the Bigfoot researcher who purportedly filmed the elusive cryptid, it is. Marcum is the founding member of The Crypto Crew and is adamant the footage is comprehensive proof of Bigfoot’s existence even though he refused to give the exact location where the footage was taken to protect the creature.
Marcum did disclose that he captured the two images discussed in his video in Kentucky with a “game cam” sometime late August, 2013. He refers to the actual location as a “fresh sighting area” and states his father had also encountered a Bigfoot there previously. His video is a five-minute narrated analysis of his discovery, where he explains why he believes the mysterious figure in the images couldn’t be anything other than Bigfoot.
The first photograph, taken at 3:06 AM, captured a dark object passing by the lower left-hand corner of the camera. Just two minutes later, in the second image, Marcum points out a dark, human-like silhouette which appears to be hiding in the trees.
Although Marcum admits the image is a “little overexposed”, he explained that he believes a head, cheekbones and part of an arm are visible while the rest of the figure remains obscured. He enhanced and enlarged the photos which, he says, distinctly shows a muscular shaped arm and the outline of the figure clearly hominid in stature, a factor missing from many of the other reported Bigfoot pictures.
In addition to his game cam pictures, Marcum found other evidence commonly associated with Bigfoot sightings such as broken tree branches and unnaturally formed stick formations.
Marcum realizes the authenticity of these images will most likely encounter skepticism, but he remains adamant in his beliefs. He’s also honest in admitting photos alone probably won’t convince everyone. However, he states his personal experiences, along with other evidence found in the area, has convinced him this creature is something more than a bear. Mainly because Kentucky doesn’t have any known to be seven foot tall.
Since Marcum withheld the exact location of the sighting, it’s impossible to cross reference the area for past sightings and previous reports. However, there are plenty of reports spread across the whole state of Kentucky so an encounter with the cryptid would not be wholly unique.
Taking a quick look at the BFRO database, Lawrence County is a ‘hotspot’ of Bigfoot sightings dating back to the early 1980s. These include sightings by hunters in Blaine and two separate accounts of strange figures in Louisa.
Another sighting comes from a man who saw Bigfoot on two separate occasions, first in 1983 and secondly in 2010. Both times, he described a creature that was seven feet in height based on the surroundings and had an ape-like face but with a body more human in structure. It had massive, muscular arms and hair covering all of its body save its fingers. The witness was an outdoorsman who knew what a bear looked like, so he was confident he had seen something other than a bear.
