The figure crossed from the lake side of the road toward the city. What unsettled the driver was the way it moved.

In an account published by the Singular Fortean Society in August 2024, a witness recalled an early drive on Chicago’s Lake Shore Drive on March 8, 2016. She described a naked, light-haired human figure moving on all fours with a bounding, canine-like gait.

The word she reached for was werewolf. Her description did not include fur or a transformation, and she said her response was confusion rather than fear. The unusual movement remained difficult for her to reconcile with an otherwise human appearance.

The published recollection does not establish who the person was or explain their behavior. There is no basis in that glimpse for a diagnosis, and no accompanying recording resolves it.

The account’s mystery is therefore a particular one: a human figure seen briefly on a familiar road, moving in a way the witness could not place. The supernatural name belongs to her interpretation of that memory. It does not change what she said she saw.
