The man was in his own yard, carrying water. Then, the story says, something took him by the arms.
On October 20, 2016, Carlinhos’s local blog reported a frightening account from Bairro Siqueira in Joselândia, Maranhão. Around eleven the previous night, an unnamed resident had allegedly been dragged into the woods. He later appeared elsewhere in town with torn clothes and scratches, saying a creature had pulled him away.
People were calling it o Bicho — the Beast. The report relayed neighbors’ claims that something had been moving through the area in the preceding days; one story had it jumping from a water tank. By the time the blogger wrote, the alleged abduction was circulating through local WhatsApp groups.
Was it a lobisomem? Carlinhos put the werewolf question to his readers without supplying an identification. The picture accompanying his post was labeled as an internet image of a supposed werewolf, not a photograph from Joselândia. The report named neither the man nor an investigating authority and cited no medical findings.
That leaves an unsettling local account with no established explanation. Its most disturbing detail needs no elaborate monster description: whatever the man said had taken him, he said it reached him at home.
