First the woods went quiet. Later, something pulled at the tent.
Writing in Week in Weird on June 10, 2016, Greg Newkirk published an anonymous account from southern New York. The camper described lights splitting above the forest, followed hours later by hairy figures rushing the campsite and tugging tent poles.
Fleeing in a truck, the group allegedly saw a roughly eight-foot, canine-faced figure in the headlights. The narrator says the camping gear was gone when they returned after daylight.
The writer acknowledged drinking that night. Three friends feature in one submitted narrative; their separate testimony is not supplied. Newkirk withheld the mountain’s name pending investigation. The recovered article contains no completed investigation or independent evidence identifying the figures—or connecting them to the lights.
