Posadas Lobizón Report: The Shape Beside the Neighborhood Lake

First the dogs became restless. Then people began looking toward the lake.

In Misiones Online’s February 9, 2023 account, residents of Barrio Prat in Posadas described something larger than the neighborhood dogs. A woman said barking had drawn her attention shortly after midnight on February 8. Later that morning, she and a neighbor saw an enormous dog-like animal enter the brush. The name attached to it was lobizón.

The report also interviewed a local night watchman who associated the animal with a nearby lake. The story spread through a neighborhood WhatsApp group, turning several glimpses into a shared question.

A February 11 Radio Libertad follow-up adds a useful detail. The watchman described a shape moving on four legs and galloping toward the water. He and a colleague tried to follow but did not establish what it was. The same report records a competing explanation: the property’s owner said howler monkeys lived there, and neighbors suggested one could explain the sighting.

A large dog-like animal and a monkey are very different things. Their appearance together in the reporting shows how unsettled the identification remained. Neither suggestion becomes a finding simply because it has been repeated.

The two publications belong to the same local media group and recount an overlapping neighborhood episode. They supply different pieces of its telling, rather than two independent confirmations of a creature. No transformation is described in these accounts.

The lake gives the story somewhere to disappear into. Between the lit houses and the brush, a familiar neighborhood acquired an edge its residents could no longer read with confidence.
