House empty Friday night → vehicle at the fisherman’s lot

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office messaging carried by the Superior Telegram (Sept. 21), WTBX / KDAL (Sept. 22), Northern News Now (Maggie Franzen, Sept. 21), and WDIO:

Miller was reported missing about 11:30 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2026, when family members arrived at his house and found he was not there.

Information developed suggested he may have gone to the Brule River area. Deputies located his vehicle around 2 a.m. Saturday, September 19, in a fisherman’s parking lot on McNeil’s Landing Road.

An extensive air and ground search followed. Northern News Now reports air, water, and ground teams still working into the evening as the search entered a second day Monday, with Douglas County deputies, Cloverland Fire Department, and surrounding fire crews in the mix. Search leaders have not called for volunteer search parties; neighbors and local businesses have been supporting crews with meals and supplies, Cloverland chairperson Naomi Stein told Northern News Now.

Miller’s family has shared gratitude for community support, per that same regional coverage.

What the public record says — and what it does not

What sheriff/press establish (as of sources reviewed here):

  • Reported missing ~11:30 p.m. Fri. Sept. 18 — family found house empty.
  • Info pointed to Brule River area; vehicle found ~2 a.m. Sat. Sept. 19 in fisherman’s parking lot on McNeil’s Landing Road (Cloverland / near Brule).
  • Multi-agency air / ground / water search continuing into Sept. 21–22 (Douglas Co. SO + Cloverland FD + others).
  • Tip path: Douglas County Sheriff’s Office published contacts (715-395-1230 tip / 715-394-4432 non-emergency).

What the public record does not establish:

  • Where Robert Miller is now.
  • Manner, cause, medical condition, foul play determination, or any charged narrative (and this desk will not invent one).
  • Exact unpublished search-grid or private-home coordinates (and this desk will not invent them).
  • Any cryptid, paranormal, or conspiracy causation — and this desk will not invent one.

An 83-year-old overdue in Great Lakes woods along a cold river is a SAR geometry problem first: time, terrain, water, temperature. Ordinary framing leads. That framing is logged here as a node, not as permission to sew folklore through an open search.
