Abandoned Corolla → plates in a ravine → still searching
According to Valley County Sheriff’s Office messaging summarized by Idaho News (Aug. 31 and Sept. 18) and FOX Carolina (Sept. 1):
Deputies were notified of an abandoned vehicle near Meadow Creek Lookout. The vehicle — a blue Toyota Corolla (FOX Carolina cites plate 6003QV) — was determined to belong to Wilkins. Based on investigative information, deputies believed the vehicle had been parked there for several weeks.
August 29: Deputies returned to the vehicle location and hiked multiple miles on foot; eight Valley County Search and Rescue members also searched. Searchers located the license plates that had been removed from Wilkins’ vehicle. Authorities said the plates appeared to have been thrown down a ravine; no other items were located that day, Idaho News reported. About two inches of snow at the lookout later delayed additional work.
September 10: Four deputies were flown in by helicopter onto separate ridgelines and searched multiple miles on foot while two more accessed by vehicle. Wilkins’ vehicle was recovered and transported to the Valley County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office thanked Voodoo Air for donating helicopter time.
September 14: Three K-9 teams and six Valley County SAR searchers returned for another extensive sweep. No additional clues, authorities said.
September 18 primary: Search continues. Investigation continues. Tip line remains 208-382-5160.
How the case moved from Upstate SC to Idaho
FOX Carolina, citing the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, reported Wilkins was reported missing Aug. 3 in Pickens County. Investigation indicated travel to Missouri, then Wyoming on Aug. 5, with a hotel check-in; employees and surveillance, Pickens said, showed he checked in and left alone. At that stage Pickens said there was no indication of a criminal matter and he could no longer be considered missing under their then-status — until the Idaho abandoned-vehicle picture reopened the urgency. Pickens said it was aware of the Idaho situation and in contact with Valley County deputies, offering assistance.
Attributed LE timeline — not a finished narrative. Plates in a ravine stay a sheriff investigative anomaly, not internet fiction.
What the public record says — and what it does not
What sheriff/press establish (as of sources reviewed here):
- Blue Toyota Corolla abandoned near Meadow Creek Lookout (Yellow Pine–Stibnite backcountry).
- Plates removed and found down a ravine (Aug. 29 search detail).
- Vehicle recovered Sept. 10; repeated ground / heli / K-9 sweeps through Sept. 14.
- Sept. 18: search + investigation ongoing. Tip: 208-382-5160.
What the public record does not establish:
- Where Solomon Wilkins is now.
- Manner, cause, foul play determination, or any charged suspect (and this desk will not invent one).
- Exact unpublished vehicle or ravine GPS (and this desk will not invent them).
- Any cryptid, paranormal, or conspiracy causation — and this desk will not invent one.

What this desk will not do
No cryptid claim. No invented suspect, motive, or closing. Plates-in-a-ravine stay sheriff detail, not folklore fuel. No creature art or amateur search grids. Monstrum Athenaeum is not law enforcement beyond pointing readers to 208-382-5160.
