More Bigfoot Sightings in Virginia, This Time Caught on Camera

Reported Bigfoot encounters are not new to Virginia and a recent video has emerged on YouTube featuring a photograph taken in rural Virginia showing a Bigfoot-type cryptid walking near a river.  The picture was taken on an old-style flip phone but nonetheless, a clear figure can been seen covered in dark brown hair and walking on two legs.

The video was uploaded by Randy O’Neal and the actual picture of the creature was captured by his unnamed father during a trip the pair was taking.  According to O’Neal, this is not the first time he’s encountered the elusive bipedal.

O’Neal and his father have been camping in the area for around 25 years and back when they first stayed in the area, they had a strange encounter one night.  The two were sitting around the campfire when O’Neal saw glowing red eyes watching them from the bushes.  His father, thinking he was making it up, told him to shoot at whatever was in the bushes, which he did.  They were both shocked to hear a blood curdling scream and sounds of something running away through the bushes.  They also heard it hit the water in the creek a short distance away.

The following morning, they checked the area and found broken bushes in a pattern leading from their campsite to the creek as if something substantial had passed through in a hurry.

O’Neal’s report is not the first account of  Bigfoot sightings in the area around the Virginia Intracoastal Highways.  Two fishermen also took a pair of photos using a cell phone in the same area.

O’Neal has faced the usual block of criticism and scepticism to which he is very frank.  He states that he never said he had seen Bigfoot, only that he had seen an unexplained dark creature that walked like a man on June 28th, 2014.

The area where the sightings occurred is part of the Virginia section of the Intracoastal Waterway, a 3000 mile inland waterway that runs through various states along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts.  It is a mixture of natural inlets, rivers, bays as well as artificial canals.

Interestingly, the waterways pass near the Great Dismal Swamp which is another area noted for Bigfoot sightings.  In 2008, a man was following the Great Dismal Trail with his wife when they heard someone walking alongside the canal running parallel to the trail.  The sound of the footsteps passed them and was soon ahead of their position at which point they stopped.  They could hear chattering noises from the bushes up ahead so, thinking quickly, the man picked up a stick and rattled the bushes.  The hikers heard the footsteps began again, leading away from their position.

As the couple left the park, they discussed what they had encountered with the park ranger.  He commented the noises were not the type made by black bears living in the area and really didn’t have an explanation.  As the hikers returning to their car, they suddenly heard a short, loud scream from the swamp.  It was unlike any noise they had ever heard before and the couple were keen amateur photographers who spent a lot of time in the outdoors.

These latest Bigfoot sightings and encounters further confirm the creatures are alive and well. It would be wise for anyone wanting to visit these areas to not travel alone as tales of Bigfoot abductions are not uncommon.
